10 years ago Triumph launched the original Street Triple. With its thrilling triple engine, aggressive looks and intuitive handling it set the benchmark and redefined the roadster market. Now with the launch of the all-new 2017 Street Triple family Triumph have torn up the rule book up all over again - with the most explosive, exhilarating, agile and intuitive performance street motorcycles the brand has ever made.
We now have three distinct model options, all featuring a new race bred 765cc engine with three levels of power and torque, new state of the art technology, the highest ever level of suspension, brakes and tyres, aggressive new looks and class leading weight – the Street Triple family sets a whole new benchmark.
With three different models in the range (and two variants) there is now a Street Triple model to suit your style of riding. The Street Triple S is the perfect all-rounder and built for everyday fun. The Street Triple R is the perfect blend of power and performance and ready for focused road riding. The Street Triple RS is the ultimate performance street motorcycle, at home on the track and a weapon on the road.
In addition, there is an even more accessible low ride height Street Triple R and an A2 license version of the Street Triple S. More on these later.
Let’s start with some of the new changes on the new Street Triple range.
The new engine is a major development and a significant step up in terms of performance. Based on the celebrated Daytona 675 power plant, there is an increase in capacity to 765cc (up from 675cc). It has more than 80 new parts and an increase to the bore and stroke.
All-new engine components include:
• new crank
• new pistons
• con-rods and balancer shaft
• Nikasil plated aluminium barrels (replacing the iron liners in the 675cc Street Triple)
The result is an immediately noticeable improvement to the character and performance, particularly in terms of low-down and mid-range usable torque. With more power and torque, the new engine comes in 3 different set-ups, each tailored to deliver the character and performance best suited to each of the 3 new Street Triple models.
The performance differences across the 3 are achieved through a combination of unique ECU and tune and different intake trumpets, camshafts and exhaust headers.
Coming hand in hand with the new engine is an improved gear box with new shorter 1st and 2nd gear ratios to improve acceleration performance and revised geometry to deliver slicker gear changes.
There is an all-new exhaust system for better performance and style and a revised airbox for a better induction sound on acceleration, for a deeper and richer Triumph Triple roar!
There is a new slip and assist clutch on Street Triple R and RS. This delivers lighter clutch action to reduce clutch lever effort for the rider. There is also an amount of ‘slip’ to reduce wheel hop and chatter from the rear end under heavy braking, delivering more rider comfort and control.
The new Street Triple models are 2kg lighter than the previous generation, This weight reduction, combined with the new higher power 765cc engine, delivers an amazing power to weight ratio that is key to the game changing performance of the new ‘Streets’ delivering a truly explosive and agile ride.
An all-new gullwing rear swingarm has been specifically designed for the new Street Triple range and maximises stability at the higher speeds achieved by the new Street Triple. The swingarm pivot position has been moved providing more natural resistance to compression of the rear suspension unit under hard acceleration. This brings a tighter corner exit capability and a more precise chassis behaviour, which can be felt on both road and track.
The new line-up all feature a significant styling evolution to deliver more attitude and a sharper, more athletic poise inspired by the ‘nose-down’ focussed attitude of the latest generation Speed Triples.
More contemporary and aggressive lines have been created with all new bodywork, flyscreen, Radiator, cowls and new integrated air intake. In addition, the seat has been redesigned and restyled to deliver a sharper, sportier separate twin seat set-up without sacrificing rider or passenger comfort.
With an incredible attention to detail there is a higher level of finish across the entire motorcycle with many high-quality details, including individual colour coded rear sub-frames for each model, re-designed rider heel guards and forged pillion footrest hangers.
There is a new ride-by-wire throttle on all three Street Triple models. This delivers a crisper, more precise and more accurate throttle response, with improved on/off throttle transition. It also enables different throttle maps which, combined with ABS and Traction Control settings, give us up to 5 selectable riding modes.
On the Street Triple R and RS there is an all-new, full-colour 5” TFT instrument pack, with 3 different Styles allowing you to choose a preferred layout of information.
The TFT instruments are angle adjustable – which is first in class – allowing for optimum visibility for every height of rider, particularly helpful in bright sunlight to avoid direct reflections and enhance readability.
New on-board computer loaded with features

the 5’’ colour display from the higher spec on-board computer of the
Street Triple R and RS models. Information available includes:

All new switch cubes with 5 way joystick on the R & RS
On the Street Triple R and RS, to navigate the new instruments on the move or at a standstill, there are all-new switch cubes with an intuitive 5-way joystick control.
The Street Triple S gets a revised LCD instrument pack and switch cubes from the Speed Triple S and R. This allows the rider to select the riding modes – on the move or at a standstill - and to access all key features on the on-board computer, including:
On the Street Triple R and RS we have a new Speed Triple inspired headlight design, incorporating an LED DRL (daytime running light)
On the Street Triple S there are new LED position light headlights,
For the first time on a Street Triple we have both ABS and Traction Control which are switchable on the R & RS models. The traction control manages the power and torque when traction is compromised. Maximising rider safety and control.
A quickshifter and lap timer are fitted as standard on the Street Triple RS allowing cluthless upshifts. The quickshifter is available as accessory option on the S and R.
The new engine set-up for the Street Triple S delivers more performance than the previous generation across the whole rev range and particularly low-down and in the mid-range. Peak power up 6.6% from the previous generation (105bhp) to 111 bhp at 11,250 rpm. Peak torque up 7.3 % to 73 Nm (from 68Nm) at 9,100 rpm.
New Showa 41mm USD separate function front forks with 110mm travel replace the KYB forks from the previous model. The Showa rear piggyback reservoir monoshock is preload-adjustable and have 124mm rear wheel travel.
Twin 310mm floating discs with Nissin 2-piston sliding calipers take care of the brakes at the front with a Brembo single piston sliding caliper on the back.
The front fly screen with integrated air intake is different on the S model with a more road focused profile with greater aero protection.
Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres which deliver advanced sporting performance for road are standard.

The seat height on the S model is 810mm (the lowest out of the three models). Price has been confirmed at £8000 for the Street Triple S.

Street Triple S (A2 Version) - £7,700
For those on a restricted license, Triumph will be offering a 660cc Street Triple S with 94bhp and is restricted to 47bhp to make it A2 compliant. Once on a full license this can be derestricted to 94bhp,
STREET TRIPLE R
Taking the performance, specification and finish to a higher level the Street Triple R delivers the perfect blend of power and performance for focused road riding. The new engine set-up in the Street Triple R has its own model-specific crank shaft, for even more power across the whole rev range and low-down. Peak power up 11.3% to 116 bhp at 12,000 rpm. Peak torque up 13% to 77 Nm at 9,400 rpm. A slip & assist clutch has also been added.
Again the Street Triple R moves away from the fully adjustable KYB suspension on the previous model for new Showa 41mm USD fully adjustable separate function big piston front forks with 115mm travel for improved riding comfort without compromising the exceptional and class-leading control and handling. Showa piggyback reservoir monoshock is on the back with spring preload, rebound and single-speed compression adjustment offering 131mm travel.
Geometry has also been changed with less rake and trail than the base model.
The R version now gets Brembo monobloc M4.32 radial front brake calipers - these deliver greatly improved stopping power over the previous Street Triple R (which were fantastic already!)
Like the S model, Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa tyres which deliver advanced sporting performance for road are standard.

Street Triple R – Low Ride Height Version
For those shorter in the leg there will be low version of the Street Triple R. Using forks with reduced stroke to lower the front end and a shorter rear shock (which removes the option of rebound adjustment). This preserves the handling characteristics of the Street Triple. The seat also has a lower profile. Exact seat height of this model will be confirmed in the near future.
STREET TRIPLE RS
The range topping new Street Triple RS is the most explosive and adrenalin-charged Street Triple Triumph have ever built.
The RS engine set-up delivers the highest level of performance ever for a Street Triple. Peak power up 16% to 121 bhp at 11,700 rpm - making this bike the ultimate performance
Street motorcycle. Peak torque is up 13% to 77 Nm at 10,800 rpm.
A major improvement across the entire rev range, perfect for overtaking or accelerating from a standstill.
The highest-specification Showa big piston 41mm front forks are fitted, adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping in both fork legs. The Rear Suspension Unit is a premium Öhlins STX40 piggyback reservoir monoshock, offering 131mm of travel, fully adjustable, offering the best possible levels of handling, comfort and control.
Phenomenal Brembo M50 4-piston radial monobloc calipers are fitted on the front – smaller and lighter, yet delivering class leading stopping power, with ratio-and span adjustable lever.
The rear brake is covered by a Brembo single piston sliding caliper.
Like the R version, the RS’s geometry has also been changed with less rake and trail than the base model.
Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyres are fitted as standard which deliver racetrack standard performance on a fully street legal tyre.
